- Brandie RLISTEN UP... I wish I could give this place 10 STARS! After 13 days roaming from Anchorage to Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs and back to Fairbanks, no place we stayed can hold a match to this place!! I wish we had found this place sooner! We stayed in a suite at a local hotel when we first arrived in Fairbanks, and moved to this place last minute when we got back into town. It is hands down THE BEST airbnb we've EVER stayed (like anywhere, ever) but it absolutely sets the bar for Alaska. It's even nicer than the one we rented in Anchorage. It's so stunning and beautifully decorated all while having the comfort of being home. The host is unbelievable! I can't express how fantastic Victoria has been - SO accommodating we feel spoiled. (I'd totally ask her to come decorate my house!) We wouldn't EVER consider staying anywhere else in Fairbanks. The beds are SUPER COMFORTABLE! The internet works! Streaming TV is flawless. The shower and bathroom are FRICKIN HUGE! I never want to leave! ...

- Debra RIn the heart of the Golden heart city Fairbanks, Alaska we found an absolute diamond "Fireweed House" Airbnb. The house was immaculately clean and every attention was taken for all our needs. Victoria, the owner, has seen to every detail of the home as well as being a great host and welcome wagon during our extended stay. Fireweed House is conveniently a short walk to any activity and or restaurant in the downtown area. Not to mention all the hopping hotspot bars that has to be experienced. Our first night there after exhaustive travel they recommended we eat at the "Thai House" just down the road. What an unbelievable dinner we had and that was Just the start as so many great restaurants are downtown in Fairbanks. During our walks we met so many friendly and very helpful locals. Making our trip truly memorable and very treasured experience in the great state of Alaska. Kudos Victoria and keep up the good work. We cannot wait for our return trip sooner then later. Fireweed House Luxury Home Rental is a 3 minute walk to restaurants, shops, historic sites, the Chena River Walk, and so much more! Owned by the Mayor of Fairbanks during the great flood of 1967; this home was entirely remodeled in 2018 to host visitors to my home town! Focused on local products and amenities including soaps from Denali Dreams Soap Co., locally roasted coffee, fresh flowers in every room and a welcome gift hand picked for your stay by your host. Whatever we choose, it’s always local, in season, and tailored to you!
It became Fireweed House kind of by accident. If you are not familiar with the flower by that name, it quickly establishes after a forest fire and is abundant in Alaska. When I was growing up in Fairbanks I heard it called the “4th of July Flower” too, and I hated it when they came out. To me, it meant that summer was winding down and the rainy season was on the way. August and the Tanana Valley Fair bring afternoon rain showers, and it’s not quite as hot as June and July. As you may be aware, the summers in Fairbanks are short and sweet. Sweet enough to keep us here through another long, cold winter!
When the custom stair railing was created, it happened that I could choose an iron panel with a flower cutout. I could have chosen Iris...or Fireweed. I really liked the way the Fireweed looked but I had to overcome my past angst over the appearance of the flower signaling the coming winter. I haven’t always had the best relationship with winters in Fairbanks. Don’t get me wrong, if you would like to really see Fairbanks and how challenging yet beautiful it is in the dead of winter, you should come! Fireweed House is warm! The snow is crisp and sparkly! The Northern Lights are bright!
I have to admit when you live in Fairbanks, Alaska year-round, the winter does drag on- they are up to 8 months long with not a lot of daylight in the middle. Spring is without a doubt a welcome sight- and it doesn’t last long before summer is in full swing! The majority of tourism happens during the short and sweet time. But there are people who are interested in seeing the other side of our experience here as well. It could be you! I would love to host you at any time during the year.
So; we went with the Fireweed for the custom stair railing, and love it so much we named the house after it! It is central to the house and has become the centerpiece. A close second to that is the beautiful Cambria Quartz installed throughout the house in counter tops and window sills.
At Fireweed House we enjoy living it up under the Midnight Sun during the summer and staying warm under the Northern Lights in the winter. With a land as unique as this, ANY time is the perfect time to book the best BnB in Fairbanks, AK - Fireweed House!
